Dallas Mavericks guard and Preston Hollow neighbor J.J. Barea starred in a video released by the City of Dallas – City Hall account on Facebook last week. The post, which currently has 3.1k reactions and 206 comments, encourages individuals to get tested for COVID-19.

“Be smart. Get tested for COVID-19,” Barea says. “The City of Dallas offers all residents health and financial resources to all those affected. Dallas, we can take care of this together.”

Some users pointed out a Cameo logo in the bottom corner. Cameo is a video-sharing website where celebrities can charge fans for personalized videos, leading some users to think that the City of Dallas bought a Cameo. Barera currently charges $99 per video.

“Lol did the city of Dallas use tax money to pay JJ through Cameo for this?” one user said on Facebook.

Some also went to Twitter to express their thoughts.

Regardless, many heralded Berea for his words. One user said, “Thank you for continuing to be as awesome as you have been in the past.”
