The dining scene in Preston Hollow is ever-changing, and the last few months brought a grand opening and reopening to the neighborhood.

Yonkers Pizza Company

Yonkers Pizza Company had a soft launch before officially opening on Oct. 26 in Preston Center. The new restaurant serves pizza by the slice, giving Preston Hollow residents somewhat of a New York experience.

“I’m hesitant to say it’s New York pizza, but it is that style,” Tony Avezzano, owner says to CultureMap Dallas. “It’s our own dough recipe, which we ferment overnight. The pizza is thin in the middle with a crust around outside that’s crispy.”

Guests can order by the slice, or they can order full pies. While diners can create their own pizza, they can also chow down on a variety of signature pizzas, one being the Jojo, which has homemade meatballs, Jimmy’s Italian Sausage, and ricotta cheese. All pizzas can be made with either a hand-tossed or cauliflower crust.

If diners aren’t in the mood for pizza, there are other options as well, including salads, pasta and sandwiches.

Yonker’s Pizza Company is open daily from 11am-9pm for takeout. Dine-in seating is currently limited, however it is also available. Delivery will be starting next week.

Tulum

Tulum closed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“For the safety of our guests and employees, Tulum will be temporarily closed until further notice,” a post on Instagram dated Mar. 17 reads. “We apologize for any inconvenience and we look forward to serving you again soon when we reopen.”

Then, on Oct. 1, they posted news that Tulum was reopening, which officially happened on Nov. 4. Their reopening also brought a flurry of changes, including a branding change, calling the dining experience “The Tulum Experience.”

Tulum’s reopening also included a new menu and a new chef, Chef José Meza. Flavors are inspired by the “the breezy, bohemian coast of Mexico,” according to their website.

Options for diners include hand-crafted cocktails, their signature flat iron steak with charred eggplant puree and wood-oven enchiladas. Wine pairings are also offered.

Tulum is currently open on Wednesdays and Sundays from 4-9pm, Thursdays and Fridays from 4-10pm and Saturdays from 5-10pm. Happy hour is Wednesday-Friday from 4-6pm. Guests can make reservations here.
