Dallas Fire-Rescue, the Dallas Police Department and Dallas City Marshals have started to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a Dec. 29 city release.

The vaccines for Dallas’ first responders come from the Texas Department of State Health Services’ allocation of 2,000 Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, per the release. The city expects 250 first responders to be vaccinated per day.

The vaccination process occurs through a drive-thru style layout using a parking garage at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center.

Before this allocation, over 100 Dallas Fire-Rescue members received their first round of the vaccine through Parkland Hospital and Dallas County Health and Human Services.

The first responders are scheduled for their second round of the vaccine in 28 days.
