In the first four days of the new year, Dallas racked up 446 property crimes, 414 “other” crimes, 138 violent crimes, nine nonviolent crimes and nine financial crimes.

Since early December, property crimes were on the decline. Violent crime dropped slightly between Dec. 31 and Jan. 4, but they have remained steady the past month.

The early months of 2020 were pretty tame compared to spring, summer and the last two months of last year. We’ll see how the early months of 2021 pan out.

Here’s a reminder of what crime looked like in Dallas in 2020:

The most common crimes in Preston Hollow in recent days have been property-related.

In the last 100 days, violent crimes in Dallas have commonly occurred on Thursdays at 1 p.m., Fridays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 8 p.m., 12 a.m. and 1 a.m.

Property crimes have commonly occurred at Mondays at 5 p.m., Tuesdays at 5 p.m., Wednesdays at 5 p.m. and the weekends at 12 a.m.

2019 data shows Dallas had 2.26 police officers per 1,000 residents. There were 3,075 total police officers for a population of over 1.3 million.
