Former President George W. Bush released a statement last night following yesterday’s events at the Capitol. The Preston Hollow neighbor stated that “insurrection could do grave damage to our Nation and reputation.”

Bush joins all other living former presidents in condemning the event. He also placed significant blame on lawmakers, who he called “reckless,” that helped to ignite violence in the nation’s capital. He stated that the rioters who invaded the space had their passions “inflamed by falsehoods and false hopes.” He did not outwardly name any lawmakers.

Just yesterday, Bush made promises to attend the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, however only time will tell if those plans change amid the the tense situation.
