Rep. Colin Allred is cosponsoring the resolution to impeach President Donald Trump.
The Hillcrest alum, whose district includes Preston Hollow, wrote in a tweet that the president is threatening democracy.
Every day this President sits in the Oval Office he is a threat to government of, by, and for the people. We have to pursue all options we have as a Congress to try to protect our democracy, which is why I am cosponsoring @davidcicilline's impeachment resolution. pic.twitter.com/amaXKoWrMP
“As I see it, the only divide in our politics that matters right now is between those who believe in democracy and those who do not,” Allred wrote. “All other differences now pale in comparison.”
Last week, Allred told the Dallas Morning News about his experience being evacuated from the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives when rioters entered the Capitol.
In a separate tweet posted days after the riot, Allred wrote the “blind hatred” he saw on the faces of the rioters reminded him of the group of men who chased him and threatened to hang him when he was 13 years old.
