With the closing of Carlo’s Bakery in Preston Center, no locations of the chain remain in North Texas.

Opened in 2016, the store was the first Carlo’s in Texas. Lines remained long days after the grand opening, when chef Buddy Valastro of the TV show Cake Boss met crowds at the store.

Michael Ciullo, the chief marketing officer of the company, told the Dallas Morning News the Preston Road location closed Dec. 7. The other Carlo’s location in Frisco closed in February 2020.

Though neighbors will no longer be able to visit a storefront, they can have Carlo’s Bakery treats delivered via Goldbelly. Ciullo also told the Morning News the company is working to open about 100 “cake ATMs” across the country, including in Texas, where customers can purchase slices or small whole cakes.

The two remaining stores in Texas are located in San Antonio and McAllen.
