Watch: A Blue Angel makes its way to the Frontiers of Flight Museum

A video popped up on Reddit that showcased a Blue Angel airplane making its way to its new home at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Shared on Reddit by a used named u/FOFM, the Jan. 12 video depicts a semi-truck carrying the jet to its final destination.

In November, the Frontiers of Flight Museum announced that a Boeing F/A-18C-23-MC, better known as a Blue Angel, would be arriving at the museum from the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Fla.

The Blue Angels are a flight demonstration group through the United States Navy and are based out of the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla. Deemed ambassadors of goodwill, their mission is “to showcase the teamwork and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corps through flight demonstrations and community outreach while inspiring a culture of excellence and service to country,” according to their website.

Even though the aircraft shown in the video currently bears the number two on its wing, it has previously worn numbers one through six and has a long history of service. First created in 1987, the craft most recently wore the number three when it flew over Dallas during Operation America Strong.

The new addition to the museum can be viewed during the museum’s hours after Jan. 16, when the museum will be closed for a private dedication ceremony, however eager neighbors can take a look at a sneak peek of the aircraft below.

The Frontiers of Flight Museum is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $7 for children ages 3-17 and free for children under 3.
