After the “Preston Royal Fire Department” was struck by the tornado in 2019 and demolished early last year, the engines, firefighters and truck were moved to two stations miles away.

A temporary fire station 41 is being constructed at 5807 Royal Lane and is set to open in June, according to an update from Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach Gates’ office.

The station will have a dome where the fire engine will be stored, and a construction trailer will be used to house the fire fighters. Construction trailers have been implemented in other cities while fire stations were being renovated.

Plans and design proposals for the new permanent fire station are still undergoing discussion and modifications, but the station is tentatively scheduled to be completed May 2022.
