E.D. Walker Middle School is asking for your gently used shoes, clothing, accessories, toys and stuffed animals.

Just drop off the items in the blue bin in the elementary parking lot on Wozencraft Drive. World Wear Project, which is partnering with the Walker PTA, will take the donations.

World Wear Project is a Dallas-based for-profit organization that works to make gently worn clothing and shoes affordable for people who need them.

The Walker PTA will receive 40% of the proceeds from World Wear Project’s sale of the donated items.

And the environment is helped out, too. According to the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), dyeing and finishing one ton of fabric can pollute up to 300 metric tons of water with chemicals, not to mention the amount of energy needed to create steam and hot water used in the process.

Donations can be made through the end of the school year in June, or as long as the bin sits outside the school.

E.D. Walker Middle School is located at 12532 Nuestra Drive.
