More than 130 finalists in the 30th-annual Young American Talent (YAT) art exhibition are on display at the St. Mark’s School of Texas campus.
All of the 134 finalists’ artwork was printed on yard signs, which will travel around DFW to allow people to see the work. The traveling show will last until May 7.
YAT is a competition for high-school students in North Texas hosted by the nonprofit Visual Arts Guild at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Winners of Best In Show and each first- through third-place category receive monetary awards.
This year, there were 1,126 student submissions from 50 high schools. The jury chose 42 winners in the following categories: Best In Show, Invitational Award, Rising Star Awards, Sculpture, Printmaking, Photography, Painting & Watercolor, Mixed Media, Fiber, Jewelry, Drawing – Black & White, Drawing – Color, Ceramics and Digital Imaging.

Two St. Mark’s students placed in the ceramics category. Brett Honaker ’22 won first for “A Matter of Perspective,” and Tim Weigman received an honorable mention for “Chain of Being.”
And Best In Show went to Hockaday student Amber Li for “Looking Glass.”
