Burger and shake fans, rejoice! There’s another eatery coming to a mall in our neighborhood.

A building permit application was filed to build a Shake Shack at NorthPark Center. The permit calls for a remodel of a space that takes up 1,200 square feet.

NorthPark houses a variety of other casual dining spots, including Chick-fil-A, Which Wich and Chipotle, but the mall lacks a dedicated burger joint.

This will be the second Shake Shack in our neighborhood. The other is located at the Preston Royal shopping center.

Shake Shack started out as a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in Manhattan in the early 2000s. Crowds lined up outside for three summers before a permanent kiosk was established in the park in 2004.

The burger chain now has locations in 32 states and Washington D.C., as well as several international stores.
