Coming off a recent bout with COVID-19, Jordan Spieth has returned to North Texas for the 2021 AT&T Byron Nelson tournament this week.

Spieth, who graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, said May 11 he tested positive three weeks prior. He experienced some symptoms and decided to withdraw from the Valspar Championship earlier this month.

The AT&T Byron Nelson tournament was canceled last year due to the pandemic. This is the first year it will be played at the TPC Craig Ranch course in McKinney. In 2018 and 2019, the tournament took place at the Trinity Forest Golf Club.

Last month, the Dallas native won the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio, ending a nearly four-year losing streak.

Round 1 of the tournament, which hoped to allow 10,000 fans to attend each day, started May 13. Play will continue through May 16.
