Fifth graders at Sudie L. Williams Talented and Gifted Academy tied for first at the third-annual Dallas ISD Virtual Elementary Debate Tournament.

Sudie tied with William B. Travis Academy for the Academically Talented & Gifted at the tournament, which included 129 students from 19 schools. Each school was eligible to register four teams.

Each team had to argue one round affirmative and one round negative to this statement: “Online learning is better than in-person learning.”

The Sudie TAG teams of McAnear, Bowers and Ingerto; Herrera, Schmidt and Galvin; and Davis, Shirk and Stout won both rounds, making them MVP Gavel Award winners.
