According to the Texas Education Agency, districts with more virtual learners saw greater declines than those with more in-person learners.

To remedy the problem, DISD leaders are implementing tutoring opportunities, smaller class sizes, extended school days and quality instruction.

Earlier this year, 41 schools chose to adopt an intersession calendar, which allows for more learning time for students who need it.
