Several students at The Hockaday School recently participated in the virtual 2021 National KidWind Challenge.

The event, which was held in June, is hosted by KidWind. For more than 15 years, it has been helping teachers and students explore renewable energy.

Rising eighth grader Anjali Konda won this year’s challenge, after competing against 200 teams in challenges, judging sessions and a quiz bowl. One virtual wind turbine she designed was so powerful that it broke the simulator.

A three-person team of Megan Li, Ai-Vy Ho and Emily Winchester received the Judges Award for their understanding of material, presentation and teamwork.

Participants had to be invited by a local event coordinator or the central office to attend.
