Award-winning actor, producer, author and advocate Lupita Nyong’o will headline a New Friends New Life luncheon in October.

Preston Hollow neighbor and Dallas Doing Good founder Jan Osborn will co-chair “A Conversation with Nyong’o” with Trina Terrell-Andrews, the CEO of the Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center.

Nyong’o, a Kenyan actor, has starred in several well-known films including “12 Years a Slave,” “Us” and “Black Panther.” She has been an advocate for women and girls around the world.

“Exuding beauty, strength and courage, Lupita’s passion and message perfectly aligns with our mission to help restore and empower those who have been marginalized and minimized,” said Bianca Jackson, the CEO of New Friends New Life. “By being her authentic self, she gives voice to the hopes and dreams of women and girls everywhere.”

New Friends New Life is a Dallas-based organization that works to restore and empower trafficked and sexually exploited girls, women and their children. Neighbor Tracey Nash-Huntley was named the board chair of the nonprofit.

The luncheon will be held Oct. 8 at 11:30 a.m. at the OMNI Dallas Hotel. It will include an in-person program and a virtual presentation.

Underwriting sponsorships begin at $2,500. Tickets are available for $250, and virtual access-only tickets are available for $100.
