Natural Grocers is celebrating its 66th anniversary this month with its biggest sale of the year and giveaways for shoppers.
The grocer, which is operated by the second and third generations of the founding Isley family, has 161 stores in 20 states. This year would have marked co-founder Margaret Isley’s 100th birthday.
“Our anniversary, and celebration of our mother Margaret’s birthday, has always been one of our favorite and biggest events of the year,” Kemper Isley, the grocer’s co-president, said in a media release. “But after the year we’ve all been through together, the celebration means more to us than ever.”

Festivities kick off Aug. 12, with a three-day sale, including discounts of up to 65% off more than 80 popular groceries, vitamins, supplements, body care products and cleaning supplies. The store will donate 1% of all sales that day to the Natural Grocers Heroes in Aprons Fund, a nonprofit that offers short-term financial aid to the company’s good4u employees during unanticipated, difficult times.
While supplies last, from 1-6 p.m. Aug. 12, all customers will get a free ice cream treat. Diary and dairy-free options will be available. Members of the grocer’s free loyalty program, {N}power, will receive a limited-edition reusable bag with their purchase and a free Natural Grocers Brand organic chocolate bar.
Pick up a copy of the August issue of Health Hotline magazine at the store and count the party hats scattered throughout it. Fill out the form in the magazine with the final count and drop it off by Aug. 28. A drawing among the correct answers will determine who wins a $500 Natural Grocers gift card.
The company is also giving away more than 5,800 prizes, including a 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid or $30,000, a Peloton Bike+, Yeti coolers, Natural Grocers gift cards, Hydro Flasks, an Apple HomePod mini, free groceries and more. To enter for a chance to win, fill out the anniversary sweepstakes form, which can be found at the neighborhood Natural Grocers between Aug. 12-14.
