Mimi Crume Sterling will join The Family Place as CEO this fall.
Her new role comes with the retirement of current CEO Paige Flink, who served 30 years with the family violence non-profit agency. Sterling will work with Flink over the next several months to transition into the role, The Family Place shared.
Sterling previously served as Vice President of Environmental Social Governance and Belonging at Neiman Marcus Group in Dallas. She has also held positions overseeing Neiman Marcus Group’s Corporate Communications and Public Relations and Corporate Culture and Philanthropy teams. Prior to that, Sterling spent 15 years working in luxury fashion and lifestyle public relations, branding and marketing in New York, New York.
“It’s with great honor and gratitude that I take the reigns as the new CEO of The Family Place this fall,” Sterling said. “I could not be more privileged to join such a critical and impactful organization, and I am dedicated to continuing to execute and implement the laser-focused mission of The Family Place. We want to ensure bright futures for every victim of family violence, empowering them to lead lives free from abuse for generations to come.”
The Family Place was established in 1978 as one of the first family violence shelters in the state. It is now the largest family violence server provider in Texas, The Family Place shared, and served nearly 12,000 clients last year. The Family Place Resale Shop was also created by the nonprofit to provide free clothing, household items and furniture to clients as necessary, and to raise funds for programs.
“I look forward to working closely with [Sterling] over the coming months as she transitions to lead an organization I have loved,” Flink said. “I truly couldn’t be leaving The Family Place in better hands.”
