Louise Eiseman, a Preston Hollow neighbor and the co-founder of NorthPark Center‘s Eiseman Jewels, died Monday of natural causes; she was 91.

Eiseman and her husband, Richard “Dick” Eiseman, opened a store in the Titche-Goettinger in NorthPark in 1965, when the mall opened, the Dallas Morning News reported. In 1990, they moved to their own storefront across from Neiman Marcus.

The Eiseman’s met after Louise graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. Before college, she attended The Hockaday School and Highland Park High School.

Her involvement in the community included more than just a business owner. She was a longtime docent at the Dallas Museum of Art and even dipped her toe in politics, helping with Annette Strauss’ mayoral campaign.

Here’s what Richard Eiseman Jr., the president of Eiseman Jewels, told the Morning News about his mother: “Mom first and foremost thought of others before herself. She didn’t do things for self-promotion. She was happy to do all the work behind the scenes. She was the brains behind the business and understood how important the community was and to share philanthropy with it.”

The family has decided to wait until a later date for a funeral service. Donations may be made to the Louise F. Eiseman Fund for Memorial Gifts at Southwestern Medical Foundation or the Dallas Museum of Art Docent Program.
