As the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks approaches, George and Laura Bush have announced plans to commemorate the day.

The former president and first lady will first visit Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in the morning. George Bush will offer keynote remarks at the Flight 93 National Memorial.

Though the ceremony is closed to the public, neighbors can watch a live stream of the former president’s comments on the Flight 93 National Memorial Facebook page beginning at 8:45 a.m. (9:45 a.m. ET).

Later that day, our Preston Hollow neighbors will return to Dallas to host a film screening at the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

The documentary “9/11: Inside the President’s War Room” will be shown as the latest event in the Engage at the Bush Center series. George Bush will share introductory remarks before the film, produced by Apple and BBC.

Weeks away from Sept. 11, the last American troops have left Afghanistan, ending the 20-year occupation of a country and a war that cost $2 trillion and resulted in the death of 170,000 people. Earlier in August, George and Laura Bush encouraged evacuation efforts in Afghanistan.
