A junior at Hillcrest High School is on the list to be the D-FW high school football defensive player of the week.

The contest, operated by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, includes eight players at schools in the metroplex. Hillcrest’s Brady Gibson is the only representative for Dallas ISD in Week 1.

Gibson had 10 tackles, five sacks and one forced fumble against Fort Worth ISD’s Polytechnic High School. Hillcrest won the Aug. 26 game 58-6.

Neighbors can vote for Gibson here. Voting ends Thursday.

Hillcrest is set to take on Ranchview High School on Friday in its second non-district game of the season.

Another Hillcrest student-athlete was featured in the Advocate’s September issue. Read the story here.
