El Fenix has been in business for over a century.

The Tex-Mex chain celebrates its 103 anniversary Sept. 15. To mark the occasion, the restaurant is offering specials to neighbors who dine in on the day.

The first 103 visitors at each location will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win free El Fenix for a year. They’ll also get a free cup of queso with an entree purchase.

Runners up will get Six Flags tickets and a $20 El Fenix gift card.

Decades ago, El Fenix was rivaled by competitor El Chico, and neighbors flocked to it every Wednesday for the enchilada special. Originally owned by the Martinez family, the restaurant sold to Firebird Restaurant Group (now Local Favorite Restaurants) in 2008.

El Fenix is located at 6811 W. Northwest Highway near Hillcrest Road.
