Grab your bikes and helmets and head over to the Northaven Trail this weekend.

Bike Mart, which recently opened a store in our neighborhood, is offering free bike and helmet inspections 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26.

The bike retailer offers new and used bikes, trade-ins and maintenance services. Representatives from the company will be in the parking lot at the Northaven Trail and Inwood Road.

Here’s what the Bike Mart mechanic will be looking at:

  • Front and rear wheel
    • Brake pads
    • Brake feel
    • Tire life
    • Tube

In addition to the inspections, free ice cream provided by Neighborhood Ice Cream Truck will be given to the first 100 neighbors. There will also be representatives from nonprofit BikeDFW to answer any questions.

The National Safety Council advises riders to make sure, before riding: their seats are adjusted and locked; all parts are secure and working properly; tires are inflated properly; and there are reflectors on the rear, front, pedals and spokes.
