The Texas Women’s Foundation’s 36th Annual Luncheon was presented by the Dallas Mavericks on Sept. 30 and raised more than $1 million to support women and girls.

The luncheon’s purpose is to fundraise the Foundation’s work to support and advance Texas women’s economic security, leadership, education, health and safety through programs and grantmaking. The program’s theme for this year was “My Voice. My Story. Every Woman’s Power to Build Compassion and Community” and had 4,000 people attend virtually.

Key speakers for the event included Angie Thomas, author of “The Hate U Give,” and Cleo Wade, author of “Heart Talk: Poetic Wisdom for a Better Life, Where to Begin.” The talks were moderated by Target executive vice president and chief external engagement officer Laysha Ward.

Dallas Mavericks CEO and Cynt Marshall and Southwest Airlines’ Laura Nieto also spoke to attendees. In front of the Dallas Galleria community wall, Marshall and Nieto announced donors who donated more than $500 were eligible for two Mavericks game tickets and a roundtrip Southwest ticket.

Texas Women’s Foundation is one of the largest women’s foundations and has invested millions toward advocacy, programs, research and grantmaking for woman and girls since 1985.
