A teacher at The Hockaday School was named one of the University of Chicago’s Outstanding Educators.
Jeri Sutton is an upper school math teacher and the chair of the math department.
Newly admitted students to the Chicago school are given the opportunity to recognize teachers who have influenced them.
Here’s how the university describes outstanding educators: “An Outstanding Educator shapes young minds in meaningful ways — thoughtfully approaching instruction, sharing an infectious love for learning, and caring for students both inside and outside of the classroom.”
Award winners receive a commemorative award, certificate and letter that includes details from the student who nominated them.
A teacher at Hillcrest High School also won the award and was one of four Dallas ISD teachers to do so.
