Update (11/11): This story has been updated to reflect the number of seniors who have received meals.

The Aaron Family Jewish Community Center of Dallas received a $30,000 grant for its congregate senior meals program.

The grant was provided by the Sylvan T. Baer Foundation in partnership with the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation, according to a news release.

It will allow the JCC to continue serving weekly frozen Kosher meals to seniors in D-FW. Meals are distributed through a contactless drive-thru on the Northaven Road campus. The grant will also prepare hot meals onsite beginning in November.

As the cost of Kosher foods rises, the JCC expects the demand for the service to increase.

More than 72,000 frozen meals were delivered to seniors 60 and older from March 2020 through September 2021.
