Volleyball

The Hockaday School’s volleyball team has ended a 13-year losing streak.

Over the weekend, they won the Southwest Preparatory Conference. The last time the team won the title was in 2008.

At the tournament, the Daisies didn’t lose a game, defeating John Cooper 3-0 and Greenhill 3-0 before facing Oakridge in the final, beating the Arlington school 3-0.

The girls team from the Episcopal School of Dallas also participated in the tournament. They beat Fort Worth Country Day in the first round but lost to Houston’s St. John’s School in the second day of play.

In the boys division, St. Mark’s School of Texas also swept the tournament. After a bye on the first day of play, they defeated Houston’s The Kinkaid School 3-0 and then Greenhill 3-1 on Friday. On Saturday, St. Mark’s beat Trinity Valley School 3-2 to win the tournament.

Cross-country

Hockaday’s team won second at the 5-kilometer meet, 10 points behind first place. Margaret Thompson finished first overall in the race with a time of 18:37.8.

St. Mark’s won the meet with a team score of 51. Sahil Dodda finished second overall with a time of 15:28.4.
