This Preston Hollow company makes it easy to give outdoor games meant to last this holiday season.

Autside, a startup from neighborhood resident Glen Collins, makes high-quality pickle-ball sets that also give back.

The Collins family

Collins, a branding and marketing executive, is a yard-game enthusiast. In post-pandemic days, he decided to leap into a lifestyle brand that puts design first in outdoor games.

Autside’s pickle-ball racket, called The Mandoline, is up to professional standards — yes, there are professional pickle-ball players.

The racket, “is engineered with a polypropylene core and graphite face to ensure uncommon command of pickle play.”

The 22-foot regulation net was manufactured by OnCourt OffCourt, and there’s also a 10-foot “driveway” net.

A full regulation set with four paddles, a net and balls costs $725, or the $425 for the mini net set. A holiday promotion includes a racket, balls and tote for $200.

Autside has a mission of giving a percentage of sales to Autism causes, with a goal of raising $1 million in the first five years. Collins and his wife, Alice, chose that cause because one of their twin sons has autism spectrum disorder, and they hope the company will eventually be able to employ workers who are on the autism spectrum.

The company plans a full line of outdoor games that includes corn hole, which Autside calls Bags and Boards, a giant Jenga game and many others. In the meantime, Autside also offers this basketball and hat bundle for the holidays.
