Ross Perot Jr. donated a Bell 407 helicopter worth more than $2.5 million to the Dallas Police Department this week.
Perot, the son of a billionaire who grew up in Preston Hollow and attended the St. Mark’s School of Texas, has been a helicopter pilot. He co-piloted the first helicopter trip around the world in 1982, when he was 23.
Perot, who is chairman of The Perot Group and Hillwood, is also a supporter of the police.
“My wife, Sarah, and I are very honored to continue helping the Dallas Police,” he said during the gift presentation at City Hall Wednesday.
The new helicopter was landed on City Hall Plaza Wednesday as part of the presentation.
“This generous gift from the Ross Perot Jr. Family and Hillwood Aviation will help improve public safety in the City of Dallas,” Police Chief Eddie Garcia said.
