Greek Isles Grille & Taverna is reopening its Preston-Royal location.

The restaurant opened in our neighborhood in 2014 and had to close in 2019 after the tornado.

Owner Chris Kostas told The Dallas Morning News the storm blew off the roof, and he thought the business would be able to open again in a few weeks. But construction took months, and a temporary roof was left on for too long, causing water damage.

“We are excited to be back in the neighborhood!” the restaurant told The Advocate. “Excited to see all the familiar faces again as well as many new!”

The reopening of the Dallas location comes as the restaurant closes its Plano spot, which Gus Kostas, Chris’ father, opened 15 years before expanding to Preston Hollow.

For lunch and dinner, neighbors can enjoy Greek classics including spanakopita and moussaka, plus a selection of soups and salads, seafood, chicken, beef, pork and more. The restaurant also offers wine, beer and cocktails.

Greek Isles Grille & Taverna is open for lunch 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday. Dinner is served 5-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 5-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

It’s located at 5934 Royal Lane, the southwest corner of the Preston-Royal intersection.

Another restaurant at the intersection that recently announced reopening plans is Fish City Grill.
