More than 80 teens gathered at the AMC NorthPark 15 theater for a fundraising event benefitting Children’s Health.

Barrett Gibbins and Ella Kate Nayfa, eighth-graders at St. Rita Catholic School, organized the “Movie with a Mission” event on Nov. 23.

They invited 80 teens from more than 20 public and private schools from across the metroplex to a special screening of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. While there, they also could take photos on the red carpet, enjoy entertainment by DJ K-Sprinkles of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and some even took home door prizes.

“Our mission with Movie with a Mission was to bring friends together to watch a movie while making a difference for teens in treatment at Children’s Health,” Gibbins and Nayfa said in a press release. “We are thankful for our AMC NorthPark 15 sponsor for giving us this opportunity to give back to our community.”

On Dec. 17, Gibbins and Nayfa presented Children’s Health with a $10,000 check. They wanted to make sure they were supporting an organization that directly helps other children and teens.

“Community support is more important than ever as Children’s Health continues to carry out our mission to make life better for children,” Holly Hassmann, the vice president of external relations at Children’s Medical Center Foundation, said in the release.
