The Preston Royal Pedal is on again this year.

Spearheaded by Ken’s Man’s Shop owner Kory Helfman, the bike ride is an opportunity to enjoy one of our neighborhood trails and support a good cause.

There’s no monetary fee required to participate in the event. Instead, bring two or more food items to donate to the North Texas Food Bank. Just drop them off outside any of the retailers at Preston Royal Village.

Show up anytime 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. April 24 at Ken’s Man’s Shop. The ride begins there and goes to the Northaven Trail. Some riders may choose to go farther, all the way to White Rock Lake, even.

Neighbors may also donate to the food bank using Go Fund Me. The link is not yet available, but we will update this story when we have it.

Last year, the event was held partly in response to the February storm that highlighted and intensified the need for food and clean water for many North Texas residents.

Over 60 people showed up to participate, and Helfman says he is expecting even more this year.

“This is a perfect way to celebrate family, health, Dallas bike trails, community and charity,” Helfman says.
