Mendocino Farms, a restaurant specializing in sandwiches and salads, is planning to open a location in our neighborhood this year.

The location at the Preston-Royal intersection will be the chain’s fifth DFW store and will bring about 70 jobs to the area. Mendocino Farms opened its first restaurant in 2005.

A tentative opening date is set for fall or winter of this year at 10720 Preston Road in the Preston Oaks shopping center.

“As a North Texas resident, it’s even more meaningful to see how Mendo has become a favorite dining spot for my hometown over the past few years, making it possible to expand our footprint with three new locations opening this year,” Kevin Miles, the CEO of Mendocino Farms, said in a statement. “Home to many Mendo fans, Preston Oaks will allow us to create a new place for families and friends in the neighborhood to turn more mealtimes into memories.”

There’s a location downtown and another in Addison.

Mendocino’s menu offers a selection of sandwiches, such as the “not so fried” chicken, Peruvian steak, pork belly banh mi and a vegan banh mi.

For salads, there’s the avocado and quinoa superfood ensalada and the pink lady beets and goat cheese salad, for example. There are also bowl options and a set menu for kids.
