No doubt about it, NorthPark is a magical place. But the giant art statement pieces, the pond filled with ducklings and the unattainable designer stores are only part of the magic. NorthPark Center’s Gold Gift Coins make any recent graduate, newlywed or other celebrator feel like a kid again.

However, as of May 20, NorthPark Center has suspended sales of their signature NorthPark Gold Gift Coins. Those that purchased them prior to May 20 have until July 10 to spend them before stores stop accepting them.

NorthPark Center cites “the inability of NorthPark’s banking partner, Comerica Bank NorthPark branch, to handle any NorthPark Gold Gift Coin transactions within its operational systems going forward” as the reason for the suspension.

Guests have until July 10 to spend the coins or trade them in at NorthPark Concierge for a NorthPark Gold Gift Card, which can be redeemed at any NorthPark retailer or restaurant. These cards will also be available for sale in place of the coins until an arrangement with other bank can be made.

While NorthPark hopes to continue the program in the future, an operational system that can support the gold coins has not been announced, so guests are encouraged to spend or transfer their coins instead of collecting them.

“We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to continue the NorthPark Gold Gift Coin program in the future,” NorthPark Center added in an email.
