Dallas ISD is considering the use of clear backpacks for next year.

The district updated its dress code online with a clear backpack policy for all students, The Dallas Morning News reported; the update was later removed.

This comes weeks after the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.

Now, as DISD is reviewing school safety, it has created a survey for parents to share their feedback about the issue. According to the survey, the district would provide a clear backpack for every student.

Small, non-transparent pouches would be allowed inside backpacks to carry items such as money, phones and hygiene products.

“While many factors go into making decisions, your input is important,” the survey says.

Parents are asked to complete the three-question survey by noon July 14.

Schools including Woodrow Wilson High School already require clear or mesh backpacks.
