Galleria Dallas is partnering with Broadway Dallas to raise funds for their Give A Kid A Seat campaign.
The campaign provides free Broadway show tickets to students from underserved neighborhoods, often who have never seen a show before. To support this cause, Galleria Dallas is decorating their Gallery Wall with the history of the program, inviting donors to support by donating through a QR code. Each $100 raised equals one seat for a child to attend the program.
In addition to the Gallery Wall, there will be several events to benefit Give A Kid A Seat, starting with the Broadway Dallas teams hosting an unveiling ceremony at the wall at 10 a.m., Monday, August 1. Later, Galleria Dallas will host Broadway Dallas’ High School Musical Theatre Awards students at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7 at 1 p.m. in front of the wall. Later, the Galleria will host a Broadway-themed skate night from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, August 6. The skate night costs $12 for admission and $5 for skate rentals.
“Kids deserve a future that they view as limitless. During these turbulent times, young people are balancing the demands of growing up with the fallout from COVID and contentious debates surrounding racial inequalities, climate change, gun violence and immigration,” explained Ken Novice, Broadway Dallas president and CEO. “This means we need performing arts more than ever because theater can connect different cultures, show new viewpoints, illuminate imaginations, and provide an outlet to experience and process complex emotions. Give A Kid A Seat is your opportunity to give a kid an adventure, a new perspective, and a place to dream.”
The Broadway Dallas Gallery Wall will remain up through Wednesday, Aug. 31.
