Dr. Srinivasa Sripathi
A nonprofit organization specializing in vision treatments has named a new director of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) research.
Retina Foundation, located on North Central Expressway, has named Dr. Srinivasa Sripathi the new director of the AMD stem cell lab.
AMD, a progressive retinal disease that gradually destroys the vision needed for reading and driving, is the most common cause of vision loss for people over the age of 50 in the U.S.
Sripathi will be focused on developing and translating stem cell-based therapies and personalized patient research.
“I am honored to join Dr. Csaky and the amazing team at the Retina Foundation as I continue my ocular stem cell research utilizing patients’ own blood or skin cells to find the best treatment for AMD,” Sripathi said in a press release.
Before joining Retina Foundation, Sripathi was a research associate in the Department of Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
The Retina Foundation is an independent clinical research facility serving patients for free and is located at 9600 N Central Expy Ste 200.
