Dr. Bernice A. King, CEO of The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change and daughter of Martin Luther King, Jr., will make an appearance at the Galleria Dallas later this month for a free book signing event.

King and co-author Dr. Kimberly P. Johnson will read their children’s book It Starts with Me! in a free book signing event at 11:30 a.m. on Level 3 of the shopping center on Saturday, August 20.

The book follows a young girl named Amora, who discusses how to allow love to drive words, thoughts and actions. The reading begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by a book signing and meet and greet with guests.

“With so many things fighting for our children’s attention, we must inject love into the hearts of our youth in order to empower the next generation of courageous, compassionate and conscientious leaders,” King said in a press release. “My father said that ‘Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.’”

In addition to the book signing, a special kiosk will be onsite adjacent to the Play Place on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20 to sell the book and other BE LOVE merchandise. All proceeds from the book and merchandise will go to The King Center.
