Now that the weather is cooling off (at least a little bit), The Friends of Northaven Trail are bringing back events on the trail with Ice Cream on the Trail, Bike Check & Free Coffee and more to come.
Ice Cream on the Trail brings Howdy Ice Cream to the trail at four locations to give hikers time to chat with board members on September 17. The Friends of Northaven Trail will be at Edgemere from 10 to 11:30 a.m., YMCA from noon to 1:30 p.m., Royal Park from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and Pensive Trail Head from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
On October 1, board members are bringing free coffee to the trail near the Inwood Road parking area. Professionals from Bike Mart will be present to give bikes and helmets a safety check.
In addition, Friends of Northaven Trail will be hosting wildfire area clean ups on September 10 and 24. Clearing out weeds and brush that overcrowd wildflowers supports healthy and diverse pollinators. Volunteers for the clean up can meet on the trail between Inwood and Welsh on September 10 and near Mash Lane on September 24. Volunteers can RSVP online.
