Former Hockaday teacher Kyle Ray Vaughn was arrested and charged in Little Rock with two felony offenses involving children, according to Little Rock police.

Authorities served an arrest warrant on Monday, June 17, against 49-year-old Vaughn for charges of internet stalking of a child and possession of material depicting sexual content involving a child, Arkansas Online said.

Vaughn had been detained by Greenbrier Police Chief Gene Earnhart near Mattew Park on May 28. Vaughn disclosed to police that he intended to meet a 14-year-old girl he had connected with on the Whisper app, who was actually Rickey Crowder. Crowder notified the police when Vaughn entered the park. Vaughn attempted to flee but was stopped by Earnhart for speeding at 66 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone. Vaughn showed police the exchanged messages and admitted he was meeting a girl to “teach her sex acts.”

Prior to his arrest, Vaughn had served as the English department chair at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock and resigned effective immediately.

“We have no indication that Mr. Vaughn engaged in inappropriate behavior or boundary crossing with Pulaski Academy students,” a statement from the school said.

Vaughn was also a former English teacher at Hockaday where he also led the school’s literary arts magazine Vibrato.

Vaughn was held without bail at the Faulkner County Detention Facility, according to court records. He pled guilty to the misdemeanor speeding charge, while his attorney entered an innocent plea to the two felony counts during the Tuesday, June 18 hearing.
