In a recent ranking of the wealthiest ZIP codes in the country by The Business Journals, several of our neighborhood’s ZIP codes made the cut.

While it is no surprise that Preston Hollow landed somewhere on the list — after all, our neighborhood is home to billionaires like Mark Cuban and Andrew Beal, former president George W. Bush — the north Dallas neighborhood has one ZIP code listed as the wealthiest in Texas and others among the wealthiest in the nation.

Coming in at the most expensive ZIP code in the State of Texas, 75225 covers University Park up through the NorthPark Center area and into eastern Preston Hollow. Out of 1,000 ZIP codes analyzed by The Business Journals, 75225 ranked 82nd in the nation.

The study found that the per capita income in the ZIP code was $128,159, with 9,699 housing units, a typical home value of $1,710,099, a total population of 21,965, five square miles of land area, a 4% poverty rate overall, a 67% bachelor’s degree rate and a median age of 48.

Several Texas cities followed behind 75225, including Houston’s 77005 at 98th, Houston’s 77401 at 178th, Austin’s 78701 at 181st and Highland Park’s 75205 at 220th.

In northeast Preston Hollow proper, 75230 came in as the 3rd wealthiest in DFW and 261st in the nation.

In 75230, the study found that the per capita income was $110,788, with 14,615 housing units, a typical home value of $854,975, a total population of 26,503, seven square miles of land area, a 5% poverty rate overall, an 83% bachelor’s degree rate and a median age of 36.

Near Preston Hollow, Bluffview also ranked on the wealthiest 1,000 list with 75209 coming in at 312nd. The Bluffview ZIP code has a per capita income of $100,507, 7,466 housing units, a typical home value of $916,546, a total population of 14,208, four square miles of land area, a 4% poverty rate overall, an 81% bachelor’s degree rate and a median age of 40.

The Business Journals calculated the Wealthy 1,000 with a weighted formula that included income levels, home values, poverty rates and population density based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the 2022 American Community Survey and Zillow. According to the Dallas Business Journal, the ranking also included a minimum threshold of $70,000 of per-capita income.

Most ZIP codes on the top of the list are in New York City and California, with 45.6% of wealth concentrated in northeast ZIP codes and 28.6% in west coast ZIP codes.
