The Dallas Museum of Art Board of Trustees recently elected and approved the 2024-2025 board. Three board members include Preston Hollow neighbors: Howard Rachofsky, David Haemisegger and Jim Nugent.

The Officers Nominating Committee also announced the unanimous re-election of Gowri Sharma, Board President and Jeffery S. Ellerman, chairman of the board.

We also enthusiastically welcome the next chapter of serving every member of our growing community while proudly representing Dallas around the globe.”

The board elected nine new members, all with a background in leading local arts and culture, and distinction in business, law and philanthropy. The nine included Roheen Ahsan, Flauren Bender, Antonio Carrillo, Bela Cooley, John Dayton, Jennifer Eagle, JoJo Fleiss, Joshua Friedman and Nicolette Lamont.

Representative Trustees elected to serve in the 2024–2025 board year include Rachel Osburn, Diana Gutman, Grace Cook, Timothy Annick, Mary McDermott Cook, Howard Rachofsky, David Haemisegger, and Lizzie Routman, Foundation for the Arts. Ex-officio members elected Jim Nugent, Dr. Harry Robinson, Jr. and Hannah Galvan.

Howard Rachofsky is an art collector. He and his wife, Cindy Rachofsky started a gallery at The Rachofsy House which, since 2013 has been moved to a new location called The Warehouse. The Warehouse Gallery features work from the Rachofsky collection and art loaned out from other institutions like the Dallas Museum of Art. The gallery seeks to make its collections accessible to the public to create an open dialogue about postwar Modern and contemporary art.

In October 2023, Howard Rachofsky hosted the 24th annual TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art gala at The Rachofsky House. The event raised over $113 million for amfAR’s AIDS research initiatives and the Dallas Museum of Art’s contemporary art acquisition program.

David Haemisegger is the chairman of the board of trustees and the acquisition, audit and finance committees at both the Nasher Foundation and the Nasher Sculpture Center. The center is home to a large collection of modern and contemporary sculptures.

Haemisegger also recently began a project with Nancy A. Nasher called the Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger Family Sculpture Garden. Together Nasher and Haemisegger donated $5 million to Duke University to build the garden. The garden will create community green spaces and showcase art outdoors.

Jim Nugent is a commissioner for the Arts and Culture Advisory Commission board at the Office of Arts and Culture for the city of Dallas. The board advises the city manager and council about cultural policies, diversity, organizations, access to arts and other issues regarding arts and culture in the city.

These three Preston Hollow neighbors will continue their work on the Board of Trustees for DMA in the upcoming year.
