Dallas ISD has closed schools for the remainder of the week due to inclement weather.

On Wednesday afternoon, the district announced that all schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10 in response to the anticipated extreme road and weather conditions. According to the statement, all DISD after-school activities and athletic events will be cancelled, with information to come on when activities will resume and if  makeup days are necessary.

Earlier that morning, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Dallas County. The NWS forecasted possible snowfall accumulations from two to five inches.

The statement issued by DISD states:

After careful consideration for anticipated road conditions and extreme temperatures, all Dallas ISD schools and offices will be closed Thursday, Jan. 9, and Friday, Jan. 10, 2025. After-school activities and athletic events for these days are canceled, and details will be shared when activities will resume.

More information will be provided later if makeup days are needed.
