The Texas Women’s Foundation’s 2025 announced its 2025 honorees, a group that includes two Preston Hollow neighbors: Cynt Marshall and Dr. Nirupama “Rupa” DeSilva.

Both women were selected for the Maura Women Helping Women Award, which has been awarded over the past 46 years to those that have catalyzed change for women and girls.

DeSilva is a professor in UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. She is a specialist in pediatric and adolescent gynecology, and she has dedicated her career to increasing access to medical care and education about reproductive needs within her community.

DeSilva also serves as Parkland Health’s Medical Director of Family Planning and Child Poverty Action Lab’s Expert in Residence. In these roles, she has founded many projects geared toward increasing access to women’s health for marginalized women, including a mobile van that allows women in the community easier access to contraception.

In addition to an impressive 36-year career at AT&T, Cynt Marshall may best be known as the newly-retired CEO of The Dallas Mavericks. Her 2018 appointment made Marshall the NBA’s first Black female CEO. Marshall brought her vision of inclusion and diversity to the team. Under her, the Dallas Mavericks received the NBA’s Inclusion Leadership Award twice.

Marshall is also the founder of the consulting firm Marshalling Resources. Her first book, You’ve Been Chosen, was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in 2023. In addition to being the recipient of several honors and awards, Marshall holds degrees in Business Administration and Human Resources Management from the University of California at Berkeley in addition to four honorary Doctorate degrees.

The two Preston Hollow neighbors will be honored along with the three other award recipients on May 8, 2025 at the TXFW’s Leadership Forum & Awards Celebration at the Omni Dallas Hotel. More information about the event can be found here.
