A $5 million renovation has begun at The Plaza at Preston Center. This is the biggest project in over a decade for the shopping center, which is located on the corner of Preston Road and Northwest Highway.

According to a statement, the 182,000-square-foot property will be renovated in phases, allowing visitors to continue shopping during the process (just be sure to avoid the scaffolding).

Almost every building will be renovated, and the entire center will be treated with fresh paint and a new color scheme. New trellises will be added, and all sidewalks will be paved with brick.

The project comes as The Plaza celebrates its 75th anniversary and gets ready to welcome a number of new businesses. This includes Frenchie, a casual French bistro from Travis Street Hospitality; women’s boutique Y-OHR; and Viva Day Spa, a med spa based in Austin.

Amanda Throckmorton Welles of Venture Commercial Real Estate, which oversees the property, said, “We have carefully curated The Plaza at Preston Center to marry up-and-coming concepts with local favorites for decades, and are looking forward to sharing it with more and more Dallasites and visitors throughout 2025.”

Work is expected to be complete by early 2026.
