The Quiet Strength of Resilience

Lake Highlands United Methodist Church will host author and descendent of holocaust survivors Ron Schwarz in May.

Ron is the son of Charles Schwarz, who lived in Nazi Germany as a boy before fleeing to France. As Nazi occupiers pushed deeper into Europe and their threat became increasingly evident, Charles fled through the treacherous mountain crossing at the French-Swiss border. Ron’s grandparents were among the 200,000 people sent to Dachau concentration camp.

Working from archival sources throughout Europe and interviews with his beloved father, Ron shares a personal glimpse into his family’s story and sheds light on the darkest days of world history.

Ron will discuss his book, “The Quiet Strength of Resilience: A Holocaust Story Spanning Four Generations,” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 18 in LHUMC’s Great Hall, 9015 Plano Road. The event is free and open to the public, but online registration is encouraged here.
