Dallas City Hall. Dallas Texas

The city launched the new system for permitting and inspections on Monday.

DallasNow is a one-way stop for residents to view records and to submit and review applications. It’s a cloud-based system that combines permitting, planning, platting, and inspections into one platform.

“This has been a project in the making for two years. Staff has worked extremely hard on this project to make things come together. We heard from our customers that things needed to be changed, and we have worked to make changes. Some have been steady incremental changes and with DallasNow, this will be a monumental change in the way we will do business with much improved transparency and customer service,” said Emily Liu, Director of Planning & Development.

Residents can expect improved transparency as applications can be easily tracked, they can see what comments have been made, and they can see what steps are left. DallasNow reduces paperwork; everything from plan reviews to permit issuance is on the platform, so fewer residents will have to visit Dallas Planning & Development offices.

“This will be a learning curve for all of us, but the Planning & Development team will be right here to assist and guide our customers,” said Vernon Young, Deputy Director of Planning & Development.

From now until May 16, residents can attend open house sessions for hands-on support with setting up accounts and navigating DallasNow.

The sessions are being held at the Oak Cliff Municipal Center from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
