One person is dead after a crash on northbound U.S 75 at Caruth Haven Lane.

Dallas Police responded to the scene of the crash Monday morning around 1 a.m. on the 8100 block of N. Central Expressway, where a sedan hit a construction vehicle and then crashed into a guardrail.

The construction vehicle, an attenuator truck, was acting as a barrier for another vehicle that was painting lane stripes at the time.

The freeway closed for five hours after the crash and reopened around 7 a.m. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene; another person was taken to the hospital but is in stable condition, according to Dallas Police.

It’s unclear what caused the crash or if the driver of the sedan was speeding; the crash is under investigation.
