Hillcrest High School students are among 28 area high schools in an artistic collaboration between SPARK! Dallas and Meow Wolf.
SPARK! Dallas, an educational facility fostering youth creativity, partners with Meow Wolf for an art pop-up experience featuring local high school students’ creations.
The exhibit, PRISMATIC, will highlight students’ creativity in areas designed and built around a single color and theme. The exhibit will be on display at SPARK! from June 1 to Sept. 29.
“These public high school students are amazingly talented, and I am impressed with how they have thoughtfully sketched and are creating their rooms into an interactive and immersive pop-up experience perfect for social media moments,” said Meg Bittner, executive director of SPARK!
SPARK! Dallas received 22 submissions from six public high schools, including Hillcrest, Citylab, Newman Smith in Farmers Branch, West Mesquite, Williams and Woodrow Wilson.
Hillcrest’s submission, Fungi Delight, follows a red theme with a textured floor of red moss and handmade mushrooms, nature-inspired elements on the ceiling and 3-D designs on the walls.
Meow Wolf, the presenting sponsor, will offer mentorships to students through Meow Wolf Grapevine to nurture their artistic endeavors.
“I am thrilled to mentor SPARK! Dallas students to inspire and empower young creators,” said Christy Howell, Meow Wolf Grapevine exhibition manager. “This PRISMATIC Art Pop-up Experience offers students a platform to unleash their imagination and creativity.”
Last year, Hillcrest students participated in the same exhibit with the theme “Hillcrest Body Garden” to mimic a garden of body parts.
